Also four star hotel without airco or even a fan… mediocre breakfast with way too few places to sit.

Not really happy:
Booked a suite for one week and air conditioning was broken.

Unfortunately, it was freezing cold and the temperatures were hitting 1~2 degree celcius, and the river infront of the hotel was frozen during the second day of my stay..

but no airco, and expensive parking (per day €15,-).

I was given a room exactly opposite a noisy air-conditioning unit, on the office building opposite, which made the ill-fitting double glazing whistle throughout the night.

However, there is no air con and it was extremely hot even with the window open.

but a lack of air con and wifi in rooms means this doesn't make the mark for a business stay.

No a/c - we were informed later than a/c was available on 4th floor

The dust in the ventilation of the windows looks like it has been there for years.

There was a continuous strange smell in the bathroom and we didn't use the jacuzzi since there was no heating in the bathroom and it as quite cold.

I'd be wary of staying in hot weather as there is no air-conditioning.

Although the street in front has quite a bit of traffic, we left the balcony door ajar and did not hear any street noise during the night.

The location is great: close to railway station, bus station and city center.

Hotel is in a good location within walking distance of the main station and the town centre.

Strategic location between Alkmaar central station and the city center, both are in about 500 mt walking distance.

Good location (not too far from train station and from town centre).

Amrâth Hotel Alkmaar is a 4-star hotel, with all the facilities you can expect, within walking distance of the city center and the central station.

Space, calm, wifi, breakfast, close to city centre and parking (we were able to park for free in the school car park next door due to school holidays).

Friendly staff, good buffet breakfast, perfect location for exploring Alkmaar centre.

It is only a few minutes walk to the centre of Alkmaar.

Good hotel very close to city center, nice rooms and friendly staff.

A short walk around the canal and over the bridge puts you in the centre where there is a huge range of places to eat or shop.

It's within walking distance of the train station and across a canal from the old city center.

Staying four nights on our tour through Holland we chose Amrath Hotel Alkmaar because  of its excellent location to get into the old city or to get easily to other towns nearby .

In a perfect position for the town and train; friendly and helpful staff; a comfortable and spacious room.

We enjoyed the room size and the bathroom!

Two things I particularly appreciated:
1) the reception team had well noted my previous requests of having glutenfree breakfast as well as an early check at 1 pm and had my room key ready upon arrival, which was great
2) as during check out, the receptionist on duty was on the phone, another staff member stepped in and avoided long waiting time by checking me out.

Even in between the pandemia they manage to give you a ver nice breakfast for take to the room.

The room is rather large, very comfortable beds, a window that can open fully, a small fridge, large bathroom.

Our room was on the fourth floor which was easily accessible via the lift in the main hall next to reception.

The room was spacious and complete, clean and comfortable.

The room was perfectly clean with all extras provided, robes, slippers, shoe shine, shower cap etc.

but we had 2 comfortable chairs in our room.

The room was kept clean and everything was satisfactory.

The room was was very clean paying attention to the details.

The outdoor seating area also needs more attention regarding cleaning, also the footpath: cigarette

The dimly lit bathroom had a shower/tub combo with a little mold in the grout.

but the halls smelled of tobacco and canabis.

Carpet and curtains were old and had disgusting stains on it, furniture & decoration were mediocre, far from luxurious as advertised (specially for a Jr suite), bad quality towels and the bed too soft to our taste.

but quite noisy due to the traffic and also, at times, hotel clients who stood outside the hotel's front door directly under our window, having a smoke and a chat.

Besides, there was black mold in the bathroom.

but the clear presence of ashtrays in the rooms!?!

The minibar fridge was filthy it had stuff spilled all over it.

Slightly nasty free shower gel and shampoo - bring your own!

Due to the snow, this was specifically helpful.

Oh and if staff decides to go out for the night that is of course fine

The staff is great, specially at the reception, they will help you in whatever you need.

However, when we arrived and enquired about the bedboard, it most definitely was a problem and the board couldn't be provided.

That wasn't the reason for dropping the 5th star though.

The room itself is not quite 4 stars, there were no bathrobes in there and it was quite cold when we arrived.

For a hotel that has a 4 star rating this definitely needs improvement.

And these things are unacceptable for a hotel pretending to have 4 stars, aren't they.

but once you enter the room there are things you would not expect for a 4 star hotel.

Again this seemed a little odd for a 4 star hotel.

We did the canal tour which is a great way of seeing the old town.

Stayed at the Amarth which provided ease of access to the old town and nearby restaurants as well as the lovely forest area at the back.

All in all I thought it was one of cleanest and friendliest hotels I’ve stayed in, with great access to the old town and train station.

This is a comfortable hotel in a pleasant town.

A modern hotel with spacious rooms overlooking a canal that surrounds the town of Alkmaar.

Beautiful old town with cheese market and great eateries and bars.

The town has much to offer, the views from the top of the church were magnificent, not to be missed !

Reasonably priced hotel conveniently located if you are dining in town.

it's really in the city center, five minutes wolking from the main shopping way, historicaĺ chairch, bars ristoraunts and train station.The room was really confortable, properly cleaned & quite.

Train station only 10 minutes walk from hotel and for 16€ pp you have a pleasant train ride (Return ticket) to AMS central station

Well located on the edge of the town centre, with only a short walk to the train station too.

The hotel is conveniently situated about a 7 minute walk from the railway station and about 10 minute walk from the town centre.

The best thing about this hotel is definitely their location, just a few minutes from the train station and from the town center, facing a beautiful small lake and the bridge to the town center.

About a 10 min walk to the train station with regular trains into Amsterdam central.

The bathroom was very small, too small as it was hard to use a towel after the shower, also the closet hanging space was very small.

No coffee or tea making equipment, no extra shampoos and I couldn't work out if the walls were plastered awaiting painting or the dull brown color was the way they were meant to be.

When showering, the entire floor gets wet.

The bathroom could be a little more clean and all fittings should be de-calcified.

However, too little boards to put things on in the bathroom and only two little hooks for the towels.

There are rooms with only a shower and rooms with bath and shower.

but I had asked for the room early because I had just flown over night from the U.S. and wanted to be able to rest a bit and shower before my meeting which started well before the official check in time.

but does the job and the bathroom looked like someone had just plastered it and decided that was that.

Some little things I don't like: 1) there was an annoying "click" sound in the room at certain times and 2) the water in the shower was not running through too well, making the morning a water ballet.

Was transferred to another room which was ok.

though I do prefer a bar of soap to bath gel, and there were no tissues .

In general the room's furniture and amenities looked worn and out-of-date.

There were a couple of minor points though:

- there is no shower cap in the room and none to be found in the whole hotel which is a problem for a woman with long hair who wants to use the rain shower without getting her hair wet.

Sauna unfortunately far too cold and only one shower

but when I took a shower the bathroom floor was wet all over.

A sauna, yep, taking p lots of space, a big old sauna, Infra Red too, as in no coals, walk around the sauna, round the back, the sink?

Yet, for a four-star hotel, we would have expected some more amenities in the room.

Positives are that the location is great - cyclable to the beach and to the pretty town of Bergen.

If you want to spend time near the beach, an artistic village, or the widest dunes of the Netherlands, this is the place to be.

We enjoyed the pool and could rent bikes here at the hotel to circle through the amazing dunes to the beach at Bergen aan Zee.

Wonderful location and walking distance of the city centre of Bergen Binnen and short bike your to the Beach through the most superb dunes natural reserve domain!

We enjoyed being outside, walking and hiking through the forest, dunes and over the beach.

The beach at Bergen Aan Zee was 15 km by bike.

A good place to cycle to dining locations in Bergen and a coffee break at the beach.

If you're looking to spend a couple of days in Holland and not only want to be in the bustling city of Amsterdam I'd recommend staying at Blooming and making a day trip to Amsterdam whilst also being able to enjoy some of the best dunes and beaches in the Netherlands.

but more the surroundings: probably the best beaches en dunes in Holland.Very nice for walking end cycling and close to the old city of Alkmaar.I will certainly stay here again but in an upgraded room.

but is really near beautiful Bergen, and also Alkmaar and of course the beach. We had a room far away from the noiser guests (not sure if the hotel did that on purpose - if so - thank you!)

The location is perfect close to the dunes and the beach in a woody area.

A couple of km's from the beach and the cute town of Bergen. Recommended!

The blooming is just off the road that leads to the town, set just inside the woods that lead to the many paths and trails that take you to the white dunes coast.

It's on the edge of one of the biggest duneslandscaping in the Netherlands with foot- and byciclepaths leading to the beach.

It's surrounded by trees on the edge of the dunes leading to the beach.

It's very close to drive to Alkmaar (beautifull city to see, and also for shopping) or the beach.

The location is great, cycling distance from the beach (Bergen aan Zee) and the centre of Bergen.

Pros
- Good location to start hiking or biking into the dunes or to the shore.

We hired bikes to go to our restaurant one evening in the neighbouring town, great fun and very safe.

I had a nice breakfast and was happy to be able to rent a bike.

This hotel, situated in the lovely green surroundings of Bergen with the town and the seaside on a short car or bike drive.

The hotel is situated in the dunes of Noord-Holland, so in two minutes your in a nice nature-area, where you can walk or bike (which you can rent at the hotel).

Linda at reception could not have been more helpful and 'saved' our holiday by arranging for suitable bikes for the 4 of us.

I booked a package including bicycle hire, a picnic package and 1 evening meal.

but hiring a bike is also a good way to stroll along the small and picturesque village.

The bikes of the hotel are not so good so rent it in town.

It is a nice point of departure for a walk or bike tour towards Bergen aan Zee, at the sea.

Thank you for having iPod dockingstations at most of the rooms as well as free WiFi! We have rented two bikes for a day to get around, afterwards we enjoyed our drinks at one of the (waterside!)

Bikes were available for hire at 9 euros or so a day.

You can rent a bike to get around, into the little town or into Alkmaar, for some cheesiness.

The facilities are also good - a nice indoor pool, pleasant quite chic communal areas and an excellent included buffet breakfast.

but breakfast was fantastic - home baked bread, special jam, soja milk, slices ginger etc.

Nice breakfast buffet with enough healthy options, good sized pool and and client friendly staff.

Dinner in restaurant and breakfast was good

Breakfast was excellent, evening meals are a bit cheffy, trying to be fancy in presentation and not maybe the best value.

Breakfast was excellent with a great choice and good quality.

Breakfast was a continental buffet and was tasty and pleantyful.

Highlight are the good breakfast and i can recommend the massage.

Amazing hotel with breakfast that almost deserve a Michelin star rating with great smiley service and very fresh products all served with a natural and easy flair !

We had our wedding in this hotel. What an amazing day it was, thanks to the lovely location, the friendly staff, the fantastic food (diner and breakfast superb!)

Dinner was lovely and breakfast amazing - so much choice.

Overall the room and the entire hotel was great, especially the breakfast.

Beware = they charge you EUR 15 per night for the crib, even if you paid in advance a rate that includes the baby; this is not a nice surprise ;-(.

Stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights, check in was a bit slow, key card for the room did not work, same issue with other colleagues.

but the only response I got was the debit notice of my creditcard.

Just after checking-in we had to pay the whole amount of our stay, and this even after my husband had given his credit-card number.

The hotel has an interesting design and blends in with the forest.

Only the design/ deco , restaurant outside and kindness of waiters are ok .

The environment of the hotel is very nice and calm.

Had a 2 days training in this hotel, based at the edge of the Bergen dunes. Beautiful, stylish rooms with a queen (140 cm width?)

It's picturesque surroundings are perfect for those looking for a relaxing break with opportunities for walking and cycling.

The food in the restaurant is well prepared and ok atmosphere.

Furthermore the area around the hotel is lovely and the interieur is modern, cozy and fresh.

Ambiance of the hotel was comfortable and friendly, lots of areas to sit downstairs in front of cosy fires.

Clearly, the hotel is not bad, the location is OK, the atmosphere is cosy.

The very rich breakfast buffet was seved in the beautifully decorated restaurant on the first floor.

The staff is welcoming and friendly any time of a day and these all things together make the Blooming one of the most cozy places.

Excellent location (15min walk into Bergen)

The location is in the middle of the forest.

The location is actually very good, close to the sea in a nice green area.

Hotel Blooming is ideally located at the outskirts in the forest of the village of Bergen.

The location in the dunes near Bergen and the sea is superbe.

Blooming is a fine hotel at a fine location, a 20 minutes stroll from Bergen centre.

We got many compliments from our guests about location and food.

The hotel/conference site is located in a forest close to the sea outside of the lovely village of Bergen.
