One bar on seafront was busy and only four of us in there .

It did get busy for limited periods during the organised activities (aqua fit,  water volleyball and basketball) which were well attended by holiday makers

but did get very busy at times in evening so maybe need one more on the bar.

Swimming pool with sunbeds was very busy and full by 9am, there's a beach nearby ( 25 minute walk)
Hotel offers to take you to a local resort , you have to book well in advance (3 days)

Not much on offer for lunch and dinner.

It was never excessively busy, except for 1 day,

The hotel has a total of about 200 rooms so is never very busy like big resort hotels.

The only disappointment was the pool bar which was very busy around lunchtime and I had to give up waiting the couple of times I went there.

He will also serve you at the table when not too busy.

My recommendation to enjoy the best of the hotel is to visit beginning of October as I understand that it gets very busy at the height of the tourist season.

The hotel wasn't too busy (even for August) with plenty of sunbeds available around the pool.

The place use to be extremely busy throughout the day with various sports activities and why the terrace bar is closed in the evening I do not know.

Breakfast is open from 7.30am, can get busy at about 9am.

but probably not in high season as we prefer the less busy September period.

There was always space around the pool and the dining room was never overly busy.

When it got busy during the evening they opened one of the pool bars too.

Overall:
For us, as a couple, the San Luis was too busy, noisy and full of children, as well as the restaurant feeling more like a canteen and the food being disappointing.

Entertainment - think of a poor man’s Phoenix nights

The sunbeds and sombreros are in very poor condition  and need replacing.

Very poor labelling on the food, sometimes totally incorrect labelling, sometimes none at all.

Negatives/ The food is repetitive and cooked to a poor standard.

The only thing that spoiled it for us was the quality of the food, sometimes alright, sometimes poor, there didn’t seem to be any organisation from the kitchen, food was brought out lukewarm and put out on to the heated display counters, even the soup was lukewarm and there was a microwave to heat it up!

Hotel was great ..food mediocre …service at desk good ..room was well cleaned .the swimming pool was far too small for the number of guests .bar service was very poor there seemed to be a severe lack of staff .On one evening there was line of 20+ people

Entertainment - two nights this was provided by the animation team, and it was so poor.

The only thing letting the restaurant down were 2 minor niggles: The orange juice at breakfast was watered orange cordial not fresh, fresh orange juice is 2.50 Euros, really, at a 4 star hotel, very poor.

Only negative about the hotel was lack of music around the pool during the day, and the very poor evening entertainment.

although it was on the menu they had none all week which was poor.

but currently it is being let down by poor service and unfriendly staff members who need training in how to make customers feel welcomed.

but it was full of them, not the hotels fault but it really wasn’t for us and with the hotel being of poor standards, mo bottled water anywhere, no coffee machine at reception,  I assume because it’s not strictly all inclusive, it has different bands.

but not in July/august when it’s so hot and the air con is poor.

For paying guests the drinks are poor value, especially the cocktails, a premixed cocktail for €7 they were rubbish.

Book non-sea view if would bother you
- Bathroom door didn’t shut which was mildly irritating
- Tv with English channels 
- One cleaner great (friendly, helpful and good job) the other poor (unfriendly and left bits)
- Squirty hand soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner attached to walls in bathroom which was really helpful.

The entertainment in the evening was pretty poor and held indoors and felt like we were being entertained in a Care Home sometimes .

but it was very random they would dress up as clowns and walk around the pool to get you involved in a certain activity which was a bit odd the other letdown would be when were eating our meal one of the team came around singing in peoples faces which was a bit rude and as for the entertainment they provide in the nights was poor the vairety show on the monday was that poor 15 minutes in half of the guests left it was cringey they do also bring outside entertainment which is of better quality.

), we missed our occasional evenings up at Las Palmeras (now no longer part of the AI package) and there was a definite cost cutting regime around food quality and getting the AC working in the rooms, the evening entertainment was particularly poor by comparison with previous years (but on a positive note made going to bed so much more peaceful).

but do expect excellent service, quality food and wonderfully clean rooms many over looking the sea, which is about 300 metres away.

but the room was kept spotlessly clean by the lovely cleaning.

Our room was always clean, so well done to the cleaning staff, never had a problem getting a drink at the bar.

To start off with, the room was very clean and accommodating.

The staff very helpful nothing was too much trouble, the rooms were clean and tidy, a good variation of food as well as the usual salads, soup and deserts, and good day and evening entertainment.

although clean, are very small and especially the shower.

On our second day the shower head broke - we reported this at 6pm and within an hour the maintenance team had replaced it with no fuss.

It consisted of three single beds (one converted sofa bed), a desk with TV and fridge and en-suite with shower, toilet and basin.

The shower was so small it was near impossible to safely shower 2 small kids, I dread to think how plus size guests must feel.

Also there was no toiletries provided other than a slither of hand soap.

Room tiny, bathroom uncomfortably small, shower untiled and peeling.

The hotel looks tired in places externally, cracked render around pool area , rusting metal fire escape staircases, paint chipped off staircases to pool toilets and to grass area.

The bathrooms in particular are really shabby and the shower is tiny and overflows/leaks if you don’t have it on a slow flow.

The sink was right in the way so it was very challenging.

The bathroom was nice and clean on arrival, the only downside is the shower cubicle was very small.

We stayed in a twin room which was a good size with a small fridge the bathroom is a little small and the shower is tiny.

Rooms - as mentioned in previous reviews, the shower cubicle is tiny.

The only slight negative was sink in bathroom is wide & and it could be a bit awkward to get in, & when we checked out we didn't get asked if we enjoyed our stay

Having watched various youtube videos, we had become worried that we may have booked the wrong accommodation as the rooms looked very small and the showers looked even smaller,

Bathroom: shower cubicle which is small, toilet and basin.

The very worst thing of all is the stench of the toilets.

Shower cubicles in rooms are very small so not recommended if you weigh over about 10 stone.

but ok, water park is good fors kids, sound stage quality is very poor,I do understand there is a sound limiter however the acts should be put inside so they have good quality sound the take that tribute act was wasted due to poor sound quality and many people moved away, I have never paid €10 euro in any hotel I have been in anywhere in spain, I have been too many hotels in Spain, the tourist tax is very expensive.

Entertainment is not great, I was surprised there was nothing really on and the sound quality is poor, so you can’t really hear a thing,

Food is pretty poor, bland, boring and repetitive.

Food was very poor quality, full of hidden salts, fats and sugars.

Internet  very poor losing connection at least four times a day.

Nothing around at all even buses down to the town was poor two supermarkets beach very small nothing for teenagers .

but for children’s waterpolo I’d advise a swimsuit at least 

The kids disco was boring
The evening entertainment was poor 

Some of the staff were rude and miserable, it was like they really didn’t want to be there 

I’m so glad this was a cheap 7 night stay for us, some of the families we met had paid over £3k for half board and let me tell you it’s 100% not worth it!!

Also all inclusive drink choices very poor!

‘Flip the water bottle’ and ‘flip ur flip flop’ off as far as you could, for a free drink, we’re just  2 of the games, so a-bit poor really.

Nothing around the hotel and really really poor amount of seats for guests on an evening.

The all inclusive meals and drinks are very poor.

Mainly due to the poor outcome of my sons physical injury!

The shower is very poor standard, it’s not thermostatic so the temperature is constantly changing.

Don’t choose this place if you want the kids entertained, the kids club was poor and underrun nothing for them in the evening after dinner only a short mini disco which was repetitive.

The snack bar is pretty poor - and you cannot sit outside or by the pool with a snack you must eat it inside.

Air con at hotel and in rooms was very poor - this may have been sorted now. 3.

Rooms were spotless on arrival and cleaning staff visited daily and kept rooms clean and tidy.

Very clean resort, housekeeping staff come in to clean room on a daily basis when it is convenient to do so.

Our room was clean and beds were comfortable, the cleaners were friendly and efficient.

Excellent holiday had by all 
14 of us went with children ranging from 2/16 years old 
Entertainment staff were great with plenty of activities on offer every day 
Waterpark was fab with plenty of slides and sun beds 
The food was good with plenty of choice 
The rooms clean and air conditioned

Lovely buffet style restaurant, clean room and public areas.

The housekeeping staff are very good, and keep rooms very clean.

Our room was clean, basic and lacking drawers or somewhere to put clothes for 4.

Room service was daily and rooms spotless.

Rooms were clean and comfortable with a service and towel change nearly every day , the cleaning ladies were lovely.

Rooms were clean and functional, cleaners did an amazing job.

This hotel is good standard, rooms very clean , food delicious and caters for everyone, children and adult activities fabulous,  water park great, rooms had every thing we need, entertainment first class and great value for money.

Rooms are tidy and big enough for what you need to use them for on a holiday.

The food is good and the rooms are clean.

There was a sewage smell that was particularly bad when going to the pool toilets, and if you were placed on a ground floor room near there wouldn't be ideal.

but it feels very dirty and smells of sewage in every direction you go in!!

Couldn't even have the balcony doors open due to the constant smell of weed.

On about day 4, we started to notice a sewage smell  in our room.

It’s also a bit annoying if you are on your balcony and your neighbour smokes.

Personal gripe was smoking and vaping within the hotel grounds around the pool and when the entertainment was on during the evening I’m not aware of the hotel policy for this

The on tap cocktails are disgusting (to our group anyway).

Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on site except on the tiny balconies, which is a bit of an anomaly,  (shame this isn't mentioned anywhere before you book)  this means that females travelling without men are very vulnerable at night when they have to go outside to smoke.

although the step is broken and wobbling, which is a trip hazard and the room smells a little of chemicals, maybe fresh paint (not great for a baby) 
When booking there weren’t a lot of rooms left.

Balcony: 2 chairs and a small table with ashtray.

but some selfish guests, was the number of people blatantly smoking and vaping at the bar tables.

Spoke to reception about this and they got the cleaners to sort this for us, they put in an air freshener to cover the smell

The smoking area is small and sometimes has a trouble getting seats there.

There is 1 designated smoking area, you aren’t allowed to smoke by your sun beds or anywhere else - just the designated area (just a tip for smokers).

If queueing for dinner for the 7.30 opening so your child can make it to mini-disco, you'll queue past the hot-pass and it's not a great start to your dinner.. sweaty and food smell clings.

The only slight criticisms I have are that the smoking area is directly outside the hotel exit to the pool, meaning walking through a plume of smoke each time.

Once in the room, the smell of stale smoke was horrendous.

Room was damp and mouldy, bathroom was all chipping and stained.

The room had everything we needed including a small fridge and a hairdryer and during our stay the room was cleaned to a really good standard daily.

The hotel is immaculately kept our room was so comfortable with an amazing sea vies down to the beautiful Calan Porter beach.

just got back from this lovely hotel staff polite an friendly,food was great, room was very clean lovely views from our balcony no trouble getting a sun bed, not to far from bars restaurants an supermarkets would highly recommend this place.

All staff in the hotel were welcoming and friendly, the maids were very friendly and the room was always kept clean and fresh.

Ok, had 9 days from 1st sept , will start with good points , hotel is clean and rooms comfy and staff very friendly and helpful .

The rooms are very clean, breakfast is ok (though the juice is extremely low quality), and the staff is very kind and attentive to any kind of request.

The room was immaculate and modern and we had all facilities we needed.

The cleaning staff were excellent and kept our room spotless.

The bathroom was clean, modern and spacious with a walk-in shower and the entire room was spotless.

The staff were all friendly, the rooms clean and location to town and beach ideal.. (though steps to beach are many) .

but I never used them as I wasn't going to get up at the crack of dawn to put my towel on one like other guests (mugs), shoud be a law against it!

The only gripe I have is the number of people who feel it necessary to put towels on the sunbeds and disappear for hours,

Extra costs were tourist tax, safe and hire of pool towels.

We asked about towel for beach and was told €25 or €20 forgot which

None of this putting towels down or anything !

We did have to pay extra (plus deposit) for a kettle in the room, for beach towels and for a safety deposit box key

I thought having to pay for WiFi, safe and towels excessive, I thought not being able to have tea or coffee with lunch or dinner weird (you need to get these at the bar after you leave), I thought it would feel way to crowded with kids around (we were there week before half term so was quiet

Our stay at the playa Azul hotel was terrible, we found red ants in our bathroom crawling all over our towels and shower, there was also no shower mat to stop you from slipping.

Suggestion: If a sun lounger hasn’t been occupied for a couple of hours could the towels be removed and stored by staff.

Advise lay towels out early if you want a sun bed by the pool.

but that did not bother us and in no way spoilt our stay, people do put their towels on their favourite sunbed spots before they even have breakfast which is selfish.

Despite the warnings not to lay claim to a pair of sunbeds with towels and going off for a few hours, many people did exactly that.

Plenty of beds with towels draped over and no one there for long periods of time.

This included charging for beach towels and a kettle in the room.

Unless you are an early riser you are unlikely to get a sunbed in the sun -  despite the hotel rules stating no reserving of sunbeds with towels.

although I never saw anyone enforcing the rule that towels would be removed!

Towels changed daily if requested and bedding once per week if requested.

but really that’s all I can say negatively (although disappointed by the amount of Brits placing their towels on the loungers - we go to the beach so not an issue personally but there was a lot of it going on this year).

Our room was clean and cleaners would come everyday some days we hung our sign as our kids like to sleep in lol so we would ask for towels and toilet roll and got these with ease, pool towels you can get from reception 1st ones free after that it’s €1 per towel (great we thought) 
Sun beds - never any sun bed wars there is loads of sun beds you can get some at any time of the day.

but just got back and hotel clean rooms brilliant food great but the best thing is the entertainment team especially Ivan who was friendly and organised some great water polo and football games plus the table tennis tournaments, highly recommended and close to airport, beach down the road is a hidden gem

The room was spotless and large for a studio room.

We went to the local beach cove - very disappointing the small was awful i think they were pumping sewage through there, sand was spongy very odd.

It's disgusting that this restaurant is even rated 3 stars!

Horrible damp smell in room , especially when air con is on , walls in rooms so thin you could actually hear people in an upstairs apartment going toilet !

Theres loads of flys on the food in the restraunt which is disgusting

We got back to our room one day and there was the smell of sewage and when I called reception they were not surprised, so obviously knew it was an ongoing issue.

but don't go to the one down the stairs it smelt like raw sewage.

but it's only open on certain days,does have a cigarette machine inside.

If you are a smoker there is nowhere for you to buy your cigarettes unless you go to mahon.

Advertised a cove beach, it’s very dirty and oh my god the smell was awful, dirty wet wipes all over the place and sea weed everywhere not a place to spend the day at all.

although pretty is difficult to get to, tiny and absolutely stinks of sulphur which ruined it.

but sand always soaking wet so towels are completely sodden after 10 minutes on the sand and it also smells quite bad too, even my two children noticed the smell.

Around the corner was another beach, personally I thought it smelt and didn't feel clean.

but the sand really smells bad of sulphur if you dig it!

There are also some bits of black mold in places around the pool.
