Really enjoyed our stay, the staff were so welcoming and friendly, great breakfast, excellent facilities, clean rooms and wonderful views.

Evening meal was buffet style starter and deserts.

The views and the accommodation are first class facilities and the breakfast offer is one of the best we have experienced.

and breakfast has a english breakfast as well as continental style with fresh juices and flavoured yoghurt we found most enjoyable with stunning views on the restaurant balcony.

This hotel has everything you need view, food at breakfast is fab we stayed opted for 3 evening meals and the food is very good and works out very good value!

We had the buffet dinner one night which was good

All staff are friendly and helpful and Raul greets you for breakfast most mornings with a cheery smile.

Especially the chef making Spanish omelettes everyday.

On arrival we thought the hotel looked small and in a poor location appearing to be in an area that looked like a housing estate.

In the harbour we dined at Nikki’s twice, which is highly recommended, the Pizzeria twice, again recommended, Red Tomato pizza, nice, Sa Cala (poor service by a waiter that does not write orders down and forgets things, small portion size and inflated price) and Miramar.

It was sufficiently poor that we gave up on it and walked out to eat in local restaurants on the last two nights of our seven day stay.

Only reasons not to give a 5* review is firstly the gym… which is poorly equipped with very old and poor quality equipment… such a shame as the outlook over the pool to the sea is gorgeous.

We tried one lunch on the Dock Bar, sad to say very poor.

Show cooking at breakfast is poor for instance scrambled eggs consist of  fried eggs chopped up on the griddle.

However evening meal was poor and below average.

Avoid Sundays ‘Mexican Night’ which is poor
The biggest issue here are the guests, mainly British - as are we - and mainly self important ‘been coming here for years’ brigade.

Everything absolutely fantastic, one small negative was the air con was poor.

although the surrounding town was a bit poor and run down.

The person that rated it poor must be some really old grumpy individual!!

The lunchtime pool menu is poor with very very limited choice.

Some we thought were just about average, Golden Dreams (cruise ship)and some poor, Paolo & the Peas (they seemed like they could not wait to get away).

The staff are so welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble, the restaurant has a fabulous breakfast choice catering for all nationalities, we ate out in the evening so can’t comment on dinner.

Service, room, food at breakfast and lunch as good as expected from a ‘Barcelo ‘ hotel.

The breakfast was excellent with a great choice and all the staff very friendly and helpful.

Plenty of choice at breakfast and my husband loved the omelette / pancake station with omelettes made on request 😊.

Can’t thank the staff enough - Monica waiting on breakfast and dinner was so charming and practically gave us a lesson in Spanish when bringing drinks to the table.

1)  Very good breakfast and good choice.

Food was plentiful and well presented with nice selection of local meats and cheeses.

We found that there was a good choice for breakfast, both hot and cold,

The Barcelo Santiago in Tenerife that we visit regularly gets the buffet spot on in comparison.

Can not fault anything with this beautiful hotel, breakfast so fresh, clean rooms with the most comfortable beds, spa treatments and the view is breathtaking.

Excellent hotel in a quiet location with delicious food and great service.

In summary; nice breakfasts, great roof top area, nice pool, average room.

I would also suggest just booking bed and breakfast and eating your evening meals in one of the many lovely restaurants in Calas Font or Mahon.

We regretted staying half board and wish we had gone bed and breakfast as restaurants in the local area were very good.

The food was excellent at breakfast and dinner.

If you put the 'do not disturb' sign on your door you then just get cards under your door to say they couldn't clean and will be back again to clean at a specified time.

My only two negative points would be parking-it’s a bit of a walk to park without paying €16 hotel parking charges which weren’t clear on booking or arrival.

Although there was a safe it didn’t seem possible to operate it without a key for which (based on other experiences) we presume a charge would have been made

There was a small fridge (but no mini bar) and a kettle plus tea coffee milk and water (but no biscuits!).

but it does not warrant the premium being charged and it certainly detracts from the Barcelo brand image.

there were no porters for the luggage, we were all inclusive except to get a drink at the sky bar you were charged.

I contacted them on social media and they replied with the same invoice and when I tried to explain again they once again ignored me.

This hotel charged me more than 200 euros a night which was definitely NOT worth the money at all.

Would not be surprised if they don't also charge for this as well.

but it's still the same, if they fix the storage issue we would return next year or earlier, but I need to see that done first, the food problems do not bother me as we only stay B&B but the lack of storage and noisy chairs movement puts me off as well as the room safe charge.

Offering six hots tubs, a private Balinese Bed, at an extra charge, and a fitness room means nothing if the personal touches are not there.

but charges to hire safe and change poor towels excessive an not what I would expect for an hotel of this quality, what a pity to spoil holiday by charging for above.

The tourist tax is a pain, with the safe charges and towel hire I spent 150 euros before I went to my room.

- General: Towels are 20 euro deposit each, safe is deposit and daily charge, Balinese beds are additional charge, etc.

but you are charged €5 a day plus refundable deposit.

if you dont return it then charge the customer.

We were charged a tourist tax which we was unaware of prior to arrival which was over €40 - an unexpected expense.

The only thing I can think of that would be of benefit would be if the different cards stating what the dishes are-if they could state whether they contain dairy (and other allergens such as gluten), it wasn't always clear, such as boiled potatoes or spinach whether

They charged for it -- I felt like I was subsidized the package tour guests

but we took our own drinks up as it wasn't the cheapest.

We paid cash each evening after dinner for wine and water

I would suggest that for the amount of money being paid it is very bad.

Each night a bottle of wine was chosen as the “house” wine and cost several euros less than the wine list price.

Had to complain about this twice aswell as the stolen EarPods and both times got a cheap bottle of cava appear in our room….which you can get on all inclusive anyway!

We've been 5 times so far, which is extraordinary for us, and have tried to find better even at 50% higher room rates,

Disparity between roof terrace bar, lounge bar prices very confusing.

A lot of hidden extra costs eg; Balinese beds, wellness centre (even if you only wanted to sit in the sauna).

but for the money we paid to upgrade we expected far better.

Costs on average about 19 euros to Mahon and return.

Our room was very small, albeit it was supposedly a Superior Room for which we had paid a significant supplement to upgrade!

but fell below our expectations in terms of size / comfort for the price paid.

The two public toilets I used both had broken locks which is ridiculous , not acceptable  for a four hotel, and think it would struggle to rate 3 stars,

We paid a hell of a price to stay here and could have stayed in a far better hotel elsewhere on the island.

food was average; the door from the room to the balcony had massive cracks across it, and looked dangerous; the lager served was always flat and lifeless and the shorts and cocktails were very expensive; and the service in the main bar was abysmally slow, one night it had taken 15 minutes to get a drink . .

but why are the towels on the main reception??

The bedding/pillows weren't changed during our 7 day stay, neither were the bath towels, which is mind boggling, as they were constantly damp.

You have to go to reception for towels and then go all the way up 5 doors to the roof terrace, surely having towels upstairs would be a good idea?

beds are very comfortable all looking good tv bathrobs etc.linen and towels changed daily how ever the deep cleaning not so good the floors and sides wast cleaned correct and tyles in toilet not cleaned so disappointed all the outside superb pools jacuzzi facilities spot on.now to the food and drink and staff the breakfast was all good a wide variation the dinner time meals are also good

The only real negatives about the hotel is that it feels tired, the rooms need some refurbishment , the towels were threadbare.

Could only get a sun bed on one day of the weeks holiday as hotel allows towels etc to be placed to reserve.

but we aren’t all likely to steal a towel that’s been used and washed many times.

When you request anything for your room like a new towel or shower gel you tend not to get a reply.We found we had to back it up with a call to reception and then it took ages to get sent to the room.

You have to pay deposits for the safe (which is unusual) and for the use of towels for the pool (which is very disappointing) and changing your towel costs!! !

We did not go round the pool area or rent any towels as we had only booked for 5 days so had a lot of exploring to do, then we were off to Barcelona, the Torrevieja, so we already had everything we needed.

The only downsides were the room being smaller than expected and the hidden costs for the room safe, pool towel rental, and minibar.

Secondly 20 euros per person for a towel and if we wanted a clean one we had to pay 3 euros.

but beware a   €20 deposit for a towel !

We had to pay a deposit for pool towels, and then 3 euros if you wanted clean towels, as well as having to pay 35 euros for the room safe.

room service was chargeable, no body lotion and I'm not used to having to pay for extras such as the safe and a deposit of €20 for a beach towel (returned at end of stay) and if you wanted to refresh it, an additional €3 so that was a bit of a shock.

we went to the Christmas lunch buffet and have to say the experience was first class.

The breakfast buffet was over 15M long offering everything you could wish for from fresh fruit, continental breakfast to full English.

The room was spotless and very comfortable and breakfast was excellent.

Our seaview room was excellent, breakfast choice and quality really good and no fighting for space around the pool. .

Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and plenty of outside seating.

We had half board - good choice & quality from the buffet breakfast & dinner.

We also ate most of our meals at the hotel both from the a la carte menu, and the buffet.

It might have been nice to have had one or two different options on the a la carte dinner from lunchtime, perhaps something from the buffet, as a special of the day.

He was a real perfectionist and  did the loveliest omelettes and poached eggs.

but was very disappointed on one night when the buffet was closed and the food offered was very poor, I feel they could’ve notified us so we could have had the choice to eat out locally.

However, food selection very poor, not quality as we have had at other hotels.

The cold meat and cheese had a very poor selection, always out of bread, and the baked beans were in the hot tray for three days (counted the rings of the previous days serving.

The aim of this post is to suggest to the hotel that the room is not value for money and that if it persists in selling this room then the very poor outlook should be reflected in the price

Beds are not comfy No changing room around the pool area - poor offer for suitable changing/ showering on last day .

As the holiday progressed, we also found to our dismay that the sound-proofing from other rooms and the corridor was poor,

Because of the poor food at the hotel I would only rate this hotel a 3 star rating.

When it did arrive it was very poor quality.

We had luckily gone B + B as the breakfast was very repetitive and of a low standard, the coffee was not nice at all and generally poor.

although they are supposedly sending us a cheque, it is merely for the last few nights we did not eat there - no apology or refund was received for the remaining nights we couldn't eat there because the food quality was so poor - I can only compare it to poor end cafe quality, nothing more!

Other than the poor exchange rate to get our euros before we went, we found prices for most things very good, cheaper than the U.K. for most holiday spending, meals, drinks etc.

The ventilation in the bathroom was so poor that it took hours for the place to dry out after using the shower and the floor was dangerously slippy.

my only silly moan was the lack of service during the day if you wanted drinks round the pool area .which was on the whole poor .

There was mention on one review which was about the poor quality of the sunbeds.

however, we have just returned and were very disappointed with the poor service in the restaurant, bearing in mind 4* status, together with the chipped/dirty dinner plates, cutlery, etc.

This is probably the most unsatisfactory aspect of all.It results in occupants of the adjoining room sounding as if they share yours.I was forever banging on walls at night because of inconsiderate guests talking loudly into the early hours, or snoring industrially One night, at the end of my tether I had to knock on the door when occupied by an elderly Spanish couple, who quietened for all of 10 minutes before resuming.

The rooms are basic and the walls in your room are wafer thin, twice we had to phone down to reception, once at 5am and the next night at 2am because the people next door left their T.V on and you can hear everything!

There's also a socket on the bathroom wall where you can plug in your hair straighteners etc so don't forget to take your European plug along with you.

There appeared to be a couple of wall hung fly catchers

but at £1600 felt it must be a better than average room.How wrong we were , entering the room which was very dark we opened the curtains then the boards to be confronted with a white wall with 2 rusting pipes in the corner.

Ours didn’t have a fan that worked so water would just run of the walls .

Hence the walls literally run with condensation, clothes hanging up get wet, towels never dry out until replaced, and even if you walk into the bathroom a full hour after someone’s showered, it’s like walking around Whitechapel in November.

As in a previous review the walls are quite thin and conversations could be heard.

Ours was tiny, painted grey with no pictures on the wall to make it look pretty, with a sliding door to a tiny bathroom, a TV where a mirror should be and worst of all, a window where a balcony should be.

but with a view of a wall) we weren't able to upgrade as the hotel was fully booked.

Walls are a little thin- the man snoring next door caused a problem one night!

but had no charm, nothing of interest on the walls and the more one looked around the more one realised the place was in need of a makeover.

The only problem we had was our balcony was very close to a wall with lots of pipe's, with no view what so ever.

The room we were allocated had no balcony cheap B&Q furniture, brown walls, nasty laminate flooring (on spilling a drink due to a chair being used as a bedside table I used some tissues to wipe up and the floor was grimy to say the least) the towels are brick hard (my dog has better quality to wipe his paws) the toiletries are made in china so bring your own.

Only negative for me I did not like the hairdryer attached to the wall very near sink in bathroom, glad I packed my own as not very good dryer either.

3) The walls are thin and the early starters (before 7 am) can disturb you.

Be warned it is one of the noisiest hotels we have stayed in, part of that is the noise made by other guests shouting in the corridors late at night (not the hotels fault just thoughtlessness) and mainly because of the thinness of the walls.

Painted in grey and white there was no decorations on the walls in the room or corridors and the bathroom like the  room was fairly standard stuff not at all inspirational

The walls are paper thin and you can here everything taking place in your neighbours room ( and I do mean evertthing)  we could here the chap next door snoring all one night, another night there was a pilot on the phone to someone for an hour and we heard every word.

The buffet restaurant has plenty of choice, with some meats and fish etc cooked while you wait, and

The selection of foods at breakfast, lunch and dinner is outstanding.

The menu was a varied self-service buffet and we didn't run out of new and freshly-cooled dishes to enjoy; similarly, the Waiting Staff were attentive, warm & not intrusive which was good.

Rooms cleaned everyday and supplies like toilet rolls and towels replaced and stocked up.

Food was delicious and much more of a choice than I thought there would be.

The rest of the time we ate in the buffet restaurant which unfortunately was not always great.

We had theme nights in the buffet restaurant (Chinese and Mexican).

Both snack bars good  and also enjoyed pastries at the late breakfast.

There was a young man called Angelo working in the main buffet restaurant, he was really helpful nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfast is a machine with water and juices which are like cordial juices.

The buffet was fresh with massive choice to suit every taste.

Food by far the best AI buffet we have experienced and Cava, Estrella and premium spirits flowing freely.

My disabled sister and my 6 year old daughter had the twin room, with my 7 year old son and 15 year old stepson on the ample and comfortable twin sofa beds.

Yes, the buffet food can be luke warm after 20 mins the buffet opens.

The choice at breakfast lunch and dinner was overwhelming, particularly the desserts.

However, the entertainment was extremely poor following on from this!

Food, if there isn't anything that you like then your far far tooo fussy we have eaten the best AI food ever just amazing from about5-6 different places over different times, please dont ever listen about poor quality because it definitely isn't here, for instance BBQ for lunch steaks, pork, turkey and Bratwurst cooked wonderfully with fresh veggies and salads plus all the kids eating so well.

This was the first time we have gone all inclusive and it was poor and disappointing.

Negatives are no information given, wifi poor, not good for people with mobility problems

My choices were limited due to poor labelling of food.

This is very poor and not what you expect from a 4+* hotel.

Bathrooms I have to give 1 star as they are poor and in need of a complete redo.

Beach - Bit of poor advertising as its not as close to the hotel as you would expect and its also only small and public so very busy.

but food started off poor and entertainment and upper bar restaurant aren’t as good as they were before.

If you are not bothered by broken sports equipment, your kids bleeding because of the pool, wasps, not knowing what you are served, poor WiFi , this is a good 4* hotel for families.

The labelling was poor so could be difficult for dietary requirements or fussy eaters.

I chose to ignore the poor reviews, really wish I hadn’t.
