The Room-
We stayed in block 69 it did have a musty smell about it, not sure what it is it did not seem to go either whilst we were there, our room had the jacuzzi on the balcony

As it is in most humid places, the pillows and sheets smelled moldy/sour.

The room had a terrible smell and we experienced a power outage twice!

The rooms with the jacuzzi do not have a damp (I use that word lightly no rooms has a bad smell) smell at all they are probably the better condition of the rooms especially top floor the room cleaning and turn down was always perfect .

Would I class it as a 5* hotel definitely not more like 3.5 at a push, room was musty and damp and really smelt, everything looked a bit tired, food was hit and miss, some restaurants were better than others, wine was awful unless you pay more for better wine.

Your basket will consist of stale bread and cold unseasoned steak slices.

This room had no issues with smells or allergy triggers,

Great experience would go agian ,but I wouldn't get the pool suite next time due to the fowl smell coming from the standing water by our room and the cart guys that pick you up if you weren't from their hotel like Colonial they wouldn't take anywhere I would have to wait for an TRS buggy.

The only downfall was a strong smell of drains in our room and the attitude of a male receptionist at Zentropia…we were hardly ever in the room so decided not to complain and for the receptionist…hmm let’s just assume he had a bad day.

People were smoking at the sun loungers and even in the pool despite there being a non smoking policy.

Also, some stains on the toilet and molds in shower room

They advertise the wish list but it was something we never got which was disappointing, daily we had to ask for fridge to be topped up 
Overview the hotel it's nice but  felt there was alot of inconsistencies.

We were not expecting to be choking on cigarette smoke in a country where it is apparently illegal to smoke except in designated areas.

We were on honeymoon so it was about relaxing, last two days was slightly impacted  by next door smoking drugs on the balcony & partying all night.

I was amazed by how many of the staff remembered me.

The entire staff is so kind and accommodating.

We’ve traveled all over the world and have never had a more considerate attentive and kind staff ready to help us in every way.

We had Victor as our server and he was so kind and happy.

The staff at TRS Yucatan were so friendly - whether it be the serving staff, housekeeping or maintenance - it didn’t matter who they were, when they walked by they always had a smile on their face and said hello.

Staff basically did everything they could to say yes to every request.

Susana, our concierge, was a delight and went over and above to help make our experience amazing - they did a special birthday room for my special day too!

The good:  the resort grounds are beautiful and the staff is very friendly.

Firstly, on a positive note, the staff were friendly, and the service at the bar and most restaurants was great.

The staff as usual is friendly and took great care of us during the week.

The staff are so friendly, especially the staff in the kids club, our 3 year old had the best time, thank you animation team!!

All of the personal was super friendly and always helpful.

Except for a few mediocre staff , most are just super friendly, services for the most part was exceptional, Food was delish wherever you go (buffett or a la carte).

Make sure you bring all the toiletries you need as the gift store prices for suncreen were prohibitively expensive.

even though we paid over $600usd per night.

(After all, whether they fill 10 tables or 20, they’re paid the same.).

When I asked them to run it in pesos they often ran it in dollars with a horrific exchange rate.

This resort has nothing special going for it except less expensive than many.

The SPA is not free anymore, the restaurants became much worse, the Chic is for full price, the service is poorer etc.

Don't book thru the concierge of the spa, wait until a rep from the spa comes around the pool or beach, as the price was half of what the listed price is.

Lastly I was disappointed in restaurant closures that were not stated at time of booking or updated on hotel website so feel we lost some of the experiences and services we were expecting when booking a holiday of a lifetime at the price we paid.

SUMMARY
I would not come to this resort again if you paid me.

It would be better if the different hotels would be have more similar prices.

Will not return not worth the price and service is not good degenerate as the day past.very sad experience and would not recommend.

Extra costs for things that were once included now too.

Their service and attentiveness far exceeds that of the Grand Palladium White Sands resort and spa and the holiday will cost you less.

As far as all inclusive it’s not very when snacks where we were staying was unavailable, we were limited to only 2 different wines at dinner a merlot or charadany any other u had to pay.

The shop onsite is outrageously overpriced ripping guests off because they know you can’t just nip out to other shops.

In my experience a lot of resorts just pay lip service to the customer and deliver not a lot.

For the great rate we paid I could have overlooked it all having been to Mexico for dozens of times and been going for over 20 years in fact I got married there 18 years ago.

Plenty of drinks and not the cheap stuff either!!

During our stay they drained several lakes which caused a terrible smell around our bungalow.

We did venture over to Colonel and tried Las Olas took one bite of food and left it was disgusting.

but the pillows were stinking of dirty socks, the temperature was a bit hard to adjust and certain things within the room weren't working at their optimal . .

There’s an awful sewer smell along water basins.

The rooms smell humid, mattresses were terrible.

The water from the moat was very low, at times you could see the bottom and the smell coming off of it was absolutely foul.

It was VERY humid the week we were there, and there seemed to be a very slight musty smell in the room,

Throughout our stay, construction works were happening what i believe was the sceptic tank right next to our village/ room so the smell was horrible every time we would go out or come back to the room.

There was a strong sewage odour right outside our building that did not abate.

To top everything off, outside of our room smelled like a sewage leak.

All the cuts were burned, dry and it took around 10 minutes between each round.

- mini bar was inconsistently stocked 
- minor maintenance issues with the rooms like slow draining sink; toilet paper holder loose leading the TP falling on floor; random sewage smell occasionally coming from the hvac (it wasn’t oppressive); low shower pressure

I didn’t know resort food could be that nasty.

but in the other side of the room, it’s old and run down, smells bad, and it’s hot and humid.

The rooms had a distinct smell of musty seawater

When we got to our villa after a long walk and guessing where it was the room had a horrible smell of mold, the tub was dirty and AC wasn’t working.

Towards the tail end of our stay, the ponds were drying up so there was a strong sulfur smell.

but Grand Palladium staff, in our view, were at another level again.

he was helpful and provided a great atmosphere.

These guys need recognition :-) 
Great food in a great restaurant

The staff in all the area's of the resort were fantastic.

The rest of the staff is astounding and kind.

Beach service was non-stop and always with a smile.

but when we arrived it was a complete surprise for the hotel receptionists.

but the staff at White Sand always tried to accommodate our needs.

Once again the staff everywhere were amazing and helpful.

You  want to charge me $200 for room service this is ridiculous.

Even for the lost towel keys they charged us $18.00 each card times four.

Extra charge for the pirate park, for the go-karts.

it often happens that the cards for entering the room stop working, and you have to go to the reception, which is not very close.

what did we have here:
1. did not get the room i ordered, they said upon arrival they do not have them available, after arguing 30 minutes they miracle had them available
2. order premium suite , the system did not indicated my their son , so they charged me an additional $1300 for an additional 5 year old son  and simply said that if I want they will cancel my order ( at 12 midnight with a family of 9 individuals in a foreign country )
3. my sister got harrats by a crew member at the hotel
4. premium is including restaurants at the evening for dinner

— Manipulative and rude staff charged us and extra $1700 to add 1 additional child to our room, and then refused to bring us a rollaway bed for the child to sleep on.

Premium level services offer free towel services without a towel card.

You do not need a card to get towels around the property.

but found the shops etc all don't take cash and want card and all Americans use USA $ so I'd say only take cash for Tips and use your card everywhere else.

When our plane landed back in Canada they actually ended up charging their credit card $4,000 USD!!.

The towel card is pointless, everything should be on the bracelet.

Another oddity is that even when the locks are on the doors the key cards can still open them.

My only complaint to management is - why do you charge so much for everything?

Tip that the gift shop in the Maya Mall does not except pesos only charge to your room or credit card.

The pirate water park was an additional charge unknown to us.

- Mall only takes credit card or credit on your room if prepaid (possibly if Premium also).

Rooms were comfortable and staff very efficient and friendly.

Staff in the dining room were very friendly and upbeat, they work very very hard and I appreciate them all.

Paid for club premium rooms, had sand in my bed first night I checked in.

(~$50 USD for a tiny bottle of sunscreen!) Pool bar staff - not always the friendliest and drinks were pretty weak

Not an all inclusive resort, water parks and other amenities had an extra cost.

I paid extra cash to guest services and magically got times scheduled.

It is recommended to organize cheap transportation to the downtown of Cancun and back, because taxis are too expensive and there is no other transportation.

Haggle with the vendors, save 20% with premium in the shops

Sunscreen is $90 US a bottle, I sh!t you not.

when I asked so what did I paid an additional $1400 the answer was the food ( same dinners we did not enjoy most of the nights.

The cost of adding a child listed on the website is only $350 total.

Not sure I want to pay premium level service if we're only able to reserve one night at a sit down restaurant.

Furthermore, let me say, we had no problem paying the cost for a room with two beds we were just told no.

It met our needs without being prohibitively expensive.

Below are the pros and cons of our stay:
 
Pros:
Ability to upgrade your services to Premium for a more luxury stay.

but with a fee if you wish to swim with them.

The advertising did not make it clear how much everything would cost on site.

but is very isolated, you are over 1hr from the Cancun City so not easy to go anywhere as there's nothing else around apart from the Cenotes over the road which we did visit and HIGHLY recommend, cost was £7 pp and fills in a few hours.

The rooms are smelly (sewer type of smell), the staff is not friendly (and always looking to the next tip) and the beach is not great.

I have spoken to your reception and all they sent me up was a cold plate of pasta for my son absolutely disgusting.

I've seen sewer rats run better motels than this dump.

I saw men in beach T-shirt’s, dirty ball caps, jeans, sweat pants, tennis shoes and one guy literally looked like he was getting ready to change someone’s car oil.

but keeping dolphins in a very small pool is disgusting.

We refused to stay in the first room they sent us to because it was in such bad shape (tap was broken and basically falling off and leaking all over the floor and the general state of the room was disgusting).

But not everything was to rave about:
The pool at CARIBE at least during our stay was very gross, so dirty with so much floating debris that your couldn't even see your feet.

Only complaint was the women's bathroom only had 2 working stalls and there was always a line and a smell and out of toilet paper several times.

The staff at the front desk weren’t great though, check in left a lot to be desired and our room had to be changed on day 2 because the first one smelt so badly of mould.

Even getting premium spirits won't help, the mixes are toxic tasting.

-Rooms have coffee maker, housecoats and slippers
-It is humid in the rooms,  my clothes that were hanging in the closet lost their wrinkles and sheets felt damp.

7.If you smoke buy them before you get here.

The crepes Suzette were basically pancakes swimming in Grand Marnier, traditionally, crepes Suzette are served aflame to burn off the alcohol.

Here's the bad.We were on third floor.Drain in bathroom floor smelled of #2 all week.Rooms were dated and pretty in need for updates.great balcony though.We loved our trip alot

The bathroom was dated and had some mold.

Alacarte restaurants definitely recommend much better than the buffet restaurants
Constant smell of cannabis near the pool at the Caribe and at the accommodation 
Only nightlife is the theatre, strikers, the mall which is more of a quiet place to drink and then the nightclub which opened at 10.30pm so very boring on a night
Rooms very tired.

It clean - it is very dated and a bit smelly.

A few people who were extremely pleasant and helpful (the omelette lady and Angel at breakfast deserve special mention)

I enjoyed the vacation other than one glitch at the reservation desk which wasted a couple of hours of my valuable time resolving the issue.

the rep was not cooperative and very passively about my request being made, and gave me the runaround.

The shows were fun and the guests and staff at the resort were wonderful.

- Personalized service demonstrated by the concierge team, enhancing the overall guest experience.

We had an amazing experience with Edson, the surf ride instructor at Barcelo Resort - kindness, patience, and knowledge not only made learning enjoyable

Valeria and Celeste with the Entertainment team have been so amazing!
