All other hotels have their pools and breakfast areas open.

It’s a 2/3 star property at most for the area.

excellent breakfasts and the area is safe and close to shopping centres.

The hotel is easy to access, lots of restaurants near by, small pool area with hot tub, our room was a junior suite, fridge needed to be levelled

we will visit the hotel again when back in the area.

Nice pool and hot tub - was only 2 towels in pool area for guests.

however is watching the lady manning the area eating the food!

This hotel was in the area so we figured we'd give it a shot.

We stayed here because it was one of the few places with a hot tub in the pool area.

Second time staying here and quite frankly this place is my new go-to spot for stop-overs in the Toronto area, given the combination of price and amenities.

Last year they remodeled the two stairway areas with flooring and new wallpapaer

Which is theory was great (had a small kitchen and eating area)

Enjoyed breakfast, nice area to sit have coffee and eat.

We would definitely choose this hotel if we were in the area again.

If I am to visit the area again , I'd be sure to consider this hotel.

We had 2 rooms were both just discussing and stinky needs major over haul everything so outdated bath shower so disgusting and stained.

The outside is awful, the inside is awful, the bathrooms are awful.

It smelt of old smoke, the shower head was broken and they didn't have enough clean towels to give us enough for our family to shower.

The bathroom, had cigarette burns throughout, the fan was hanging out of the ceiling and didn't work, and the carpeting was stained and disgusting, shame on management to keep this place open.

The room was very dirty with fish scales all over the sink, countertops, table, chairs.

Paint peeling in bathroom, Office chair that was disintegrating and dirty, TV remote held together with duct tape and the TV did not work at All!

However, having stayed at many other hotels where the amenities are open, their excuse makes no sense.

Peeling wallpaper everywhere, holes all throughout blackout curtains, carpet made your feet black, rust & mold all in bathroom, the desk chair looked like they pulled it out of the dump, the rooms are sooo old & outdated.

Peeling wallpaper, blackout curtains dull of holes, drywall mud all over bathroom walls, rusty bathtub, stains on carpets, bathroom ceiling peeling, smelled of cigarette smoke and Marijuana, bathroom had several signs of cracking and dirty/mold trim.

I cannot believe that we were still charged as much as we were for a bed and a shower.

There was mold in the bathroom, and the tile was disgusting.

No room number on the outside of the door and rust or brown stains in the bathtub.

I had to ask the housekeeper come in to re-clean the room the desk had crumbs all over it the carpet was covered with glitter and crumbs she had to re-vacuum the mirror that’s by the one bed was splattered with some kind of liquid all over it.

I had mould in my bathroom, stains all over the carpet, broken and run down furniture, broken lights etc.

but I know it was the mould I found in bathroom.

My room and bathroom were very dirty and poorly maintained.

Expected amenities such as shampoo and conditioner were not provided and difficult to find for staff when requested.

The bed and pillows were lumpy and overly soft.

The multicoloured comforter on top of the beds appeared not being washed.

Both beds in the room were less comfortable than the bathtub, the pillows like air-filled bricks and the windows allowed as much noise through as it did air.

Good thing I brought my own sheets and pillow from home because sheets on the bed had not been cleaned.

After thoroughly checking the bed / room for bugs, I did end up sleeping well as the bed was comfortable.

This was a great stay and staff was extremely friendly and helpful beds surpsingly comfortable I would recommend this hotel to anyone simply based on the friendlyness of the staff also offered a good breakfast and great value

Room was clean, bed comfy & quite quiet considering the 401 is so close.

The only good things from our stay were that the beds were comfortable and the WiFi was good.

But, the bed was comfortable and it was clean.

Close to a major highway, good value, beds are very comfortable for a good night sleep after traveling such a long distance.

Nice hotel room, bed and pillows were comfy.

On the positive side reception staff and cleaners were friendly and it’s close to highway 401.

Check in at reception was a breeze with a very friendly young lady.

but the manager won't answer his office phone but he is around according to the receptionist..

After leaving the manager Michael Mason had called to tell me that I smoked in the room and there would be a charge on my visa of $285 because of this.

with any luck you'll bump into rob the night desk manager.

but its apparent the management couldn't give a sh*t to try and fix it.

I notified the manager on Tuesday of the lack of service and i needed to call him on Thursday the day we left to remind him again.

When I went to checkout the manager was not in and I was informed that he wouldn't be in until after 10am.

Not impressed with management stating that we couldn't change rooms since they were "fully booked"

Told to call manager at a later date it was his day off, no one else to speak with..

Management reluctantly agreed to call the police after several requests and after more than an hour.

When I arrived at the hotel, the manager on duty (Michael) and other concierge were having a discussion and didn't acknowledge my arrival - perhaps they were very busy.

Why would the person at the desk tell us one thing and the Manager another.

When my teenage son was going through some Internet connection issues, Mr. Mason (the manager himself) & a clerk both dove into the problem and suggested solutions.

I had to ask the manager later in the morning and he informed me that there had been a change in suppliers and old supplier came and took out their machine and he wasn't sure when new supplier would deliver a waffle maker.

After showing the manager on duty my confirmation he tried to find another room.

The manager did not seem particularly sorry and we were not compensated in any way.

She said: there's the manager's card if you want to make a complaint.

I called back and the manager was not in. Really?

Management will also not do anything if you complain about this so make sure you put the do not disturb sign or your going to be up early.

Rooms are not clean, staff was rude when we asked to be changed to a different room, and the manager, Michael, never addressed our concerns.

The breakfast provided was pathetic, the only "hot" items were a bagel or toast if requested.

We asked the front desk if a small group of people could sit in the lobby as to not disturb other guest and were denied.

We left the hotel and came back about an hour later, and asked if we could book the pool.

When I asked for a non smoking room I was given attitude that 'I had a pet with me".

Staff were non responsive and passive with requests some of which had to be followed up on 3 times.

My daughter now in a state of shock called asked how long until I was back as she was being threatened to get kicked out.

I asked him what the plan was and he told me he would call me in my existing room.

At checkout, I asked that the cost of the dog ($25) be taken off the bill.

Stayed last Friday and Saturday for a family wedding  installing carpet was more important than cleaning room after 2 requests  Arrived at 2am Sunday to unmade room  Promised to clean twice and never happened

She asked if I had put it near my phone (which I had while it was in my pocket) and said that was what was causing the issues.

but when I asked if we would be charged for the previous week she said - there most likely wouldn't be a charge because the system doesn't have a credit card listed on it.

The stay was great,however, the night lady at the front desk was very rude and oblivious when asked for a remote for the tv.

I asked why mine 1 person was so much more their answer was business room I said I didn't request it so they gave me a 10%.

I asked desk staff and received a shrug because she didn't know why that would have been,

We asked housekeeping for extra coffee, they left us none.

she said she  would give it to me next time if I asked???

Daughter was competing early in the morning, asked for a later check out of 1:00 pm so she could sleep in and we would checkout after her competition and was told it's 10$ extra.

Upon checking in I requested to move to non-smoking

On top of this the fridge froze our food.

but it was great that they had a staff member preparing and bagging the food, to prevent people from touching the food.

Went back to the front dedk and asked if there was a pizza restaurant that he could recommend.

Friend recommended Chasers Restraunt Oshawa we were thankful to find a place to eat as almost nothing was open to serve meals on Christmas Day.

it gets busy here   lot of out of town company book in here..continental breakfast is good hot food.

.and i had food i needed to keep cold.. crossing fingers it gets cold again.

Breakfast was very good with hot and cold food being replenished.

You also have restaurants, gas stations just around the corner.

Close to restaurants & coffee shops as well as a mall within 5 blocks.

Parent and coaches have parties with all the pizza and veggie trays for the kids in the halls using the tabbles from the rooms.

It's just past (or before, if you're westbound) the multilane madness of the 401, with easy access back onto the highway and the restaurants of Thickson road.

The rooms were very clean,the beds are very comfortable, the breakfast had a good selection of foods, my kids loved the pool & the adults enjoyed the hot tub.

The room was very conveniently located and the breakfast was hearty and tasty.

but I could still smell cigarette smoke in the room.

From the dirty, mouldy rooms with holes in the walls to the desk chairs falling apart and decor from the 1980’s.

Hotel smelled like a mix between a gym locker room & cigarettes.

I was put in a smoking room without given notice that was the room I was being put in.

The room was filthy, floors damaged, broken exterior door, half the rooms power outlets didn’t work, trim coming off wall, shower curtain heavily damaged, blank out curtain on patio door damaged, smelled like cigarettes, bugs in bathroom.

The room smelled like old cigarette smoke.

Room smelled like cigarettes and chemicals as if the room which claimed to a non smoking room previously was used for smoking and they tried to cover the smell with harsh cleaning chemicals.

Rooms smell bad, carpets in room are gross and feel wet, bed sheets were wet feeling as well.

Lamps rusted and shades dirty and ripped, mold in tub, rust all over towel holder, shower wasn’t working properly, bathroom hadn’t been cleaned fully, dirt on bathroom door, woken up at 3:00 by drunk girls that looked like prostitues, tv channels hard to figure out, non smoking room

However, once we checked into our room it smelled of smoke, was missing some of the bathroom supplies, and there was cat hair between all the sheets, etc.

but people must have been smoking in their rooms since the hallway really smelled of cigarette smoke.

But that’s about it, our room smelt damp and was very dated.

Unfortunately, we had to stay in a smoking room as that's all that was available.

I think the first floor is reserved for the smoking rooms,

I didn't even realize that hotels still had smoking rooms!!

They had given our room away and were only able to offer us a smoking room with fewer beds than we had booked.

This should be noted by the hotel staff when booking, that some rooms on the first floor are smoking rooms.

Our room smelled and had stains on the floor, furniture and curtains.

So I have an argument with the front desk and the manager and at the same time chatting with the Agoda support center telling them what happened to my reservations.

The staff was extremely unfriendly and ultimately I highly discourage anyone from staying at the Whitby Travel Lodge.

I finally asked the attendant what his name was, Will.

Upon check in I was greeted by a nice young gentleman who guided my check in promptly.

The staff was very warm and welcoming,  and despite COVID, I had a very enjoyable breakfast that was served to me.

Also I expressed my concerns to mangment about the hotel and staff.

Brenda the front desk staff ruined my daughter's Birthday by scaring her.

Enjoyed the bagged breakfast, better than most hotels, during Covid.

Rooms were very clean and breakfast was good too.

Breakfast is also available which is vast and delicious.

Weekday breakfast with good coffee starts at 6am which gives us an early start to the workday classes at the University.

It is a basic hotel, which was clean, nice staff, and ok breakfast.

Friendly staff, clean rooms and in the heart of downtown so close to several restaurants and has a lot of places to shop.

Rooms were clean, the entire hotel smelled like lavender and I was impressed on the level of Customer Care the staff has showed me.

I was very impressed with the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel lobby and guest room.

The rooms where clean and the bathroom was always stocked up on towels as well as travel shampoo, conditioner, hand cream ect.

Due to the lack of competition in the downtown core I feel they charge a high nightly fee than what it's worth.

I had to go to the reception to get them reactivate the card to unlock the door of the room.

As it was a weekend, there were no charges for the parking at the city run lot.

We were told that we could park in the municipal parking across the street and there was no charge on weekends.

but we were charged a late checkout fee that we were not warned about.

The money you took off my card has not been returned yet.

When i requested a refund they tried telling me there was no record of a charge to my visa

Oh and over charged what for we'd booked.

Next morning I found out she charged my card 3 times listing 3different room numbers.

No more than 10 minutes later we were approached again by the night staff and spoken to in a VERY aggressive and confrontational manner, told that we were going to be charged an extra $250.00 for noise complaints?????

We were charged a $25.00 fee for our dog.

The only downfall, their website advertizes no charge for pets, found out otherwise on check-in.

The front desk was kind enough to make us aware that he did not check in and they made no issue with cancelling the room so we were not charged.

but that I should call booking.com and see what they would do, since she was more than willing to let me off the hook with no charges.

I tried to send an email to this inn only to discover that there is not an email address given for it in any of the materials we received from them, including the card asking me to do this review.

The lady at the front desk was rude, then she told me there was a 25$ charge for my dogs.
